Anti-Gerrymandering Quilt was a research project. I wanted to investigate gerrymandering and redlining in Texas, where I’m from. I wanted to know what relationships these two systems of inequality had with each other. I wanted to capture the ridiculousness and arbitrary nature of two historical traditions that still carry on and impact communities today. So I created a quilt mapping it all out together in the same space as a process of meditation.
